Spending time in Bergerac in the southwest of France, it is hard not to fall in love with the place. The region’s distinctive rolling hills dotted with fecund copses have a very special place in my heart, as do the genuinely warm people and their wines.
Earlier this year I interviewed the engaging Vigneronne Marine Dubard of Vignobles Dubard and spoke of her family’s wineries and what Bergerac means to her, a piece that had many asking why more wines from this part of the world were not available here.
This week GFR returns to Bergerac to speak with Vigneron Laurent de Bosredon about the history of druidic human sacrifice on his property at Château Bélingard, how he feels about being a next-door neighbour to the oft deified Bordeaux region, and, of course, his outstanding Bergerac and Monbazillac wines.
